From the 27th June – 4th July Luke Smith and Gav Loftus are locking themselves in a cage, day and night, outside St Mikes.
Why on earth are they doing this? Because they believe that Jesus offers us freedom whenever we feel trapped. And they want to tell people about how good this is.
All over the world people are not free in different ways. Some people are actually in cages or slavery, others are trapped in bad relationships, and for others it may be that the choices in life seem made for them leaving them frustrated and angry. Read more here
On the 23rd May 2010 the G2 community are invited to join with all the churches of York in praying for our city on our historic city walls. We will be gathering in the Minster Gardens at 5pm, then praying on the walls from 5:45-6pm.
Later that evening we will be getting back together as a community for Drench. 7:30pm in the gym. It is our night of prayer and worship and it will be the last one in the David Lloyd so join us as we stand together in a time of uncertainty.
If you haven’t already booked yourself in for a slot in G2′s 24:7 prayer caravan you need to get on it!! Today is the first day of the week and the slots are almost full. You can go and join someone else if there are no free ones. We recommend you pray in twos anyway for safety. You can park in Heslington Church car park for an hour which is opposite the caravan – perfect!
This is an experience you don’t want to miss and it comes at such a critical time for G2 as well. So pray on!
There is only 1 week left before the 24:7 prayer week begins. The slots are filling up fast so make sure you book one quick at http://www.24-7prayer.com/signup/g2york
The way it works is you go to the caravan at the Derbyshire’s house (map below) just before your hour is due to start. The person who has been praying in the hour before you will pray for you briefly then leave you to it. Then you have an hour to pray for the City of York, G2, friends and family, people who are unwell, unhappy or lonely, pray for yourself, pray for your kids, pray for any missionaries you know, do any or none of the above and just be. Experience God in the moment. Before you know it, someone will arrive to take over from you and you will pray for them briefly before leaving them to it.
Make sure you get a chance to listen to Matthew Porter’s talk from the church weekend. It was very inspiring and it is essential that we, at G2, are behind this vision. Its a great call to pray for revival and transformation in the North of England.
You can listen to the talk on the talks section of our website or click here. It is also on our podcast which you can find by clicking here.
If you're interested in exploring the Christian faith, or maybe just find traditional church difficult, then G2 might be for you. Read more about G2 here.
