Letter on Giving

pound-coinRoger Simpson (the Vicar of St Michaels Church) and Matthew Porter (the Associate minister) have written a pastoral letter to the church on giving.

One of our aims for this year at G2 is to see a big increase in the number of people giving to the church, so do have a read and see what you think.  We’re planning some talks on generosity in the Autumn, but don’t feel you need to wait until then to have a discussion at your cell group or to start being a giver!

Coping with the Credit Crunch

“Coping with the Credit Crunch” will be an evening of information and discussion on Tuesday 21 October 7.30pm in St Michael le Belfrey, York.

You don’t need to be told what credit crunch means – you feel the pain every time you fill up the tank on your car, or go to the supermarket or discuss house prices….and we are all affected.  After a long period of economic growth it is now much harder to borrow money.  At the same time there has been a huge increase in the costs of life’s basics – fuel, petrol and food.  So even if you don’t borrow or use credit, you are probably feeling the effects of the global economy.  And many people in our churches are worried about what they can do to help themselves and others.

We thought it was time that we addressed this issue for the church and Mel Griggs who works with Family Matters York has agreed to do this for us.  He is a former banker and church Treasurer and has extensive experience in helping people get to grips with money.  He now runs courses, workshops and seminars across the country as well as teaching community courses in York.   Admission is free and we are holding this in St Mikes so that we can get a lot of people in. You don’t need a ticket to come – just turn up.
