G2 in houses – 14th Feb

dinnerOn Sunday 14th February G2 is doing something different! Instead of all gathering together at David Lloyd, we are going to meet in small groups to have dinner together in houses!  This is a great way to get to know people better, and get a free invitation to lunch!  Around 20 people will be hosting and will be inviting people to join them and their family/housemates to some good, home-made food.  Make sure you don’t miss out!   If you don’t receive an invite from someone, then don’t be offended, just e-mail hannsmith@gmail.com and Hannah will ensure you get one!

Gym Entry this term – 31st Jan & 28th Feb

Davidlloyd_logo_whiteonblk.JPGWe have access to the gym for 50 people on the 31st Jan and 28th Feb this term. It costs £1.50 each and you need to reserve your tickets for the 31st Jan by emailing Sam Butterfield on Sam@G2york.org or 07919097295.

Please feel free to buy tickets for guests and bring friends. It is a good opportunity to do just that and share our community with others.

The ticket allows you access to the gym, pool and courts (which you have to book) and restaurant.

Gym Access – 1st November

Davidlloyd_logo_whiteonblk.JPGThe David Lloyd are giving us access to the gym for 50 people twice this term – 1st November and 6th December. It will cost £1.50 per person. For this price we get access to all of the facilities (pool, sauna, full gym, racquet sports).

These are great chances to get to build community, hang out together and to invite friends.

If you would like to reserve tickets for the 1st November, please email Sam.butterfield@stmichaelsyork.org and bring your money to G2 asap.

Connecting People Across G2

world-connect-people-community-international

It has been fantastic to see different people getting to know one another in G2 recently. The student lunches have been part of this, but they are only a drop on the ocean of what is possible.

G2 is a community. There is a tangible sense of belonging and ‘family’ at G2 that you may have felt. For this to continue to develop it is important that we don’t prioritise certain people groups over others. Recently, we have focused on students and families, but G2 is much broader than that and we need to work together as a community to ensure everyone is included.

I have heard of some really exciting things that are helping to build friendships across G2’s community. One couple are going to cook for three extra people at Sunday lunch and invite the first three takers at G2. Other working people have said they would like to have students over for lunch and not let the families have all the fun!

So what ways can you get involved in this? G2 is not going to organise lots of things centrally. The student lunches are just to get the ball rolling. Once you get the hospitality bug you can’t stop. Could you invite some people from G2 to sunday lunch? Could you cook for more than just you? Perhaps there are some students who could host some graduates?

Let’s be generous with our hospitality and friendships. If there is a bridge that needs building – perhaps you are the one to build it.
