New members of the PCC

Congratulations to Andy Falconer, Michael Luck and Joanne Magill from G2 who were all elected to the PCC at the APCM last night. The PCC is the legal governing body of the Church.

Many thanks to the 5 other people from G2 who also stood for election.

Annual Church Meeting (Thur 24 April)

The Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) is a bit of a mouthful, but it’s worth finding out about.  This year it is on Thursday 24 April in St Michaels at 7.30pm, with the option of coming to church from 6.00pm to have a packed tea and meet some of the church leaders before the meeting.

All Church of England churches have to have one of these meetings every year to elect members of the Parochial Church Council (PCC) and do various legal bits and bobs, like accepting the annual accounts, electing the Churchwardens etc.  Here at St Mikes, we like to try and make the meeting a bit more than this.  It’s a great opportunity for the leaders of many of the ministries of the church to let you know what they have been up to over the year, what their plans are for the next year and to hear from you with any questions or thoughts on the work.

The meeting itself will start at 7.30pm, but before this, we hope that many of you will come and bring a packed tea to church from 6pm.  We will provide drinks, and many of the leaders in the church will have ’stalls’ around the church, to show you what is happening and what is panned for their areas of work.  You will be able to chat to Roger Simpson, Mark Rance, the Human Resources Committee, the Fabric Committee, the Youth and Childrens staff, World Mission, Cell Leadership, Paul Millard on Finance, Simon Bray for music and worship,  the student team, G2, Spurriergate and more.

It really will be a great chance to ask all those things you chat about in the pub or at home but don’t get to talk about with the leaders often enough.  Please do consider coming along.

We will be electing members of the PCC as well - if you would like to consider standing for the PCC, do contact Mark Rance (mark.rance@stmichaelsyork.org) who can give you lots more information.

See you there!
