Friday Fun Easter Cluster

As part of the Family Cluster, every Friday some of the mums and young children from G2 get together to have some fun in a variety of places in and around York, it is called ‘Friday Fun’. We often bring friends along and we have enjoyed expanding our community over the past few months.

Last friday though, we arranged a special Easter day. It included an easter egg hunt, crafts and egg rolling races! We all made an extra effort to invite a friend or two, all of whom said they would love to come. Some of our friends even invited their own friends, so late Thursday evening we had confirmation of 18 adults and 23 children!

We couldn’t have asked for better weather; it was warm and sunny and Dan and Susie’s garden provided the perfect location to be outside all day. The mums (and one grandad) drank tea and coffee while the children hunted for eggs, made fridge magnets, covered themselves in chocolate making chocolate nests (you may have eaten on one Sunday!) Thankfully some people came in the morning and some in the afternoon so we just did everything twice.

It was such a great opportunity to be a blessing to busy and tired mums, to make new friends and welcome people into our lives. Clare, like all of us, was really encouraged because although her friend isn’t interested in God at the minute, what she couldn’t get over is the community and friendships! Clare said it was fun to listen to her on the playground reeling off about the amazing time she had had! What a launch pad for conversation.

For those of us that commit to Friday Fun every week this was what we have been dreaming of, it has spurred us on to be more expectant for what God can and will do through our friendships.
