Leaders

G2 is led by a Core Team who are responsible for direction and oversight of G2 and a wider Leadership Team each of whom lead a particular area of G2′s daily life. The leaders are accountable to Matthew Porter, the vicar of St Michael le Belfrey, and to the Church Council.

The Core Team

Rev’d Christian Selvaratnam is the G2 Team Leader, an ordained Priest in the Church of England and a Pioneer Minister. As well as leading G2, Christian oversees other areas of church life in St Michael le Belfrey and works part-time for Alpha International supporting Alpha courses in the North of England. Christian is married to Amanda and they have 3 children, he is a keen runner, is currently learning Triathlon and cooks a mean curry.

Luke Smith works for Fusion, an organisation that seeks to plug students into local churches and equip churches to do effective student work. He is married to Hannah and they have a baby boy. He enjoys mowing stripes into his lawn, eating soft boiled quail eggs and facts about birds of prey.

Andy Falconer is Headmaster of St Olave’s school in York, a private day and boarding school. He is married to Lesley and with three little girls, finds himself living in a very pink and fluffy world. He is passionate about skiing, and all things to do with leadership and management.

Rob Ainsworth leads the Besom in York, a charity which exists to helps the church to serve people in need. He is married to Hannah. He is passionate about cells and clusters as a way of challenging each other as a community to encourage each other to discover and follow Jesus in new ways.

Miriam Swaffield graduated from York Uni in 2011 and now works for Fusion as Student Mission Developer. She heads-up the G2 Student Work and is passionate about seeing people come to know Jesus. She loves pick-n-mix and thinks she is more of a surfer than she actually is.

The Leadership Team

 

Tom O’Dair head up the Student Cluster and are passionate about seeing students come to know Jesus, lead and challenge each other in their faith, and be part of a community. Their role is to get students stuck into leading, being part of and bringing their mates along to student cell groups, cluster events, alpha courses, besom projects, G2 meetings- to get students to own ‘Church’ by doing it.

Josh & Ellie Cockayne lead a G2 cluster, which is made up of two cell groups. The cluster is for anybody, any age, any life situation. They try to develop honest, generous and welcoming community to help each other discover Jesus better.  Josh is studying for an MA in Philosophy & Theology at York University and Ellie works as Teaching Assistant, she is also a private tutor.

James Welford is overseeing the hospitality team at G2, which involves running a team of people who are responsible for welcoming people on a Sunday, serving refreshments, building friendships and attempting to demonstrate God’s love in addressing the needs of members and visitors.

Paul Millard heads up the worship and music team at G2.  He is keen to develop creative worship and is also the finance manager at St Michael le Belfrey Church.  Paul is married to Heather and has 2 children. He enjoys playing football and plays the guitar.


Gareth Frank & Natasha Tranter
work with students from both uni’s, encouraging them to deepen their faith and challenging them to share the message of Jesus on the campus’. Their vision is to reach the students of York with Jesus’ message of life. Gareth is from Wales, Natasha is from Essex. Odd mix.

Susie Finn  heads up the families work at G2. She is passionate about seeing families engaged with Church together. Susie is married to Dan and they have two young children.
